What We Do

Diverse, innovative and ambitious, our projects are among the most significant and successful in Ireland and abroad.

We annually manage in Ireland 10 precious Nature Reserves

  • Tinnaberna Nature Reserve, Gorey, Co. Wexford.
  • Little Brosna Reserve, Ferbane, Co. Offaly.
  • Lough Graney Reserve, Scariff, Co. Clare.
  • The Avoca Reserve, Tigroney, Avoca, Co. Wicklow.
  • Beltra Reserve, Glenealy, Co. Wicklow.
  • Wicklow Gap Reserve, Co. Wicklow.
  • Glenhest Reserve, Newport, Co. Mayo.
  • Kilroran Reserve, Ballygar, Co. Galway.
  • Brittas Lakes Reserve, Co. Dublin.
  • Gort Reserve, Co. Galway.

Small “havens” like these reserves still give a much needed home for our vanishing remaining wildlife. Maintaining suitable habitats is now absolutely critical for ongoing conservation and the future!

Ongoing Long-term Projects

Educational awareness and policy change: At school, university, government and international EU & UN level – encourage volunteering within local communities.

Maintaining and Enhancing Biodiversity: Nationally and globally, we work to change policies and reflect these goals so to ensure global warming, over-population and degradation of habitats and their wildlife do not threaten our natural world.

Habitat Preservation:

  • heather and moors
  • over grazing
  • regulated burning
  • fisheries management
  • ocean – fresh water
  • creating new habitats
  • native tree planting
  • re-establishment of ponds
  • creation of wild flower meadows

Local Volunteer Projects: These include native tree planting, pond creation, erection of Barn Owl boxes, bat boxes, recycling, road, beach and canal water clean ups.

Reuse and Recycle Policies: We have a large number of local recycling projects around the country. Our volunteers clean up country roads, motorways, canals, urban streams and rivers and beaches. Please get involved!

Clean green energy policies: We have been advocating the end of fossil fuels and unnecessary air pollution for decades. A big shift is coming now in the next few decades.
