World Curlew Day is celebrated annually on April 21. It is dedicated to raising awareness about the rapid decline of curlews, the world’s largest wading birds, and promote important conservation efforts to save these endangered birds.
With its distinctive haunting calls and association with wetlands and coastal areas, World Curlew Day also highlights the Curlews cultural importance in folklore and literature, particularly in Ireland and the UK.
To reflect the growing range of environmental initiatives we have spearheaded over the years, we embraced a new parallel name of the Eco Restoration Trust - nonetheless our origins, and the reason we came into existence, is because of the plight of the Curlew - hence our original and 'official' name; The Curlew Trust CLG.
